Carlos Gámez de Francisco was born in post-revolutionary Cuba in 1987, to a Cuban-Spanish mother and a Cuban-American father. He grew up in

Cuba and was educated in an academic style heavily influenced by the Russian Academy. At age five, he determined, with absolute certainty, that he would be an artist. By the time he was fifteen, Gámez de Francisco was diligently painting 8 hours a day, every day. Today, he often spends 15 hours a day painting and feels “very blessed to do what I love.”

Gámez de Francisco arrived in the United States with $650 at the age of 21 knowing no English. He spent $600 on art supplies and $50 on a pair of Cortez running shoes – “just like the ones Forrest Gump wore to run across the United States.” He committed himself to learn 100 English words every day, studying diligently, working, and painting at night. For the first five months, he lived in America without sleep. His exceptional talent, hard work, and perseverance led him to earn artistic commissions and recognition. Carlos Gámez de Francisco’s work is exquisitely detailed, beautifully executed, and primarily – thought-provoking.

C. Bennette Moore was born in Sauk Center, Minnesota, February 20, 1879. Mr. Bennette Moore established himself as a photographer of both portraits and scenic localities in New Orleans in the early decades of the twentieth century. He was a major figure in that profession by the time of his death, having worked four decades behind the camera and in the darkroom. The Moore Studio’s legacy included not only the photographs of its founder, but the work of Moore’s successors, his wife, daughters, and granddaughter, who operated the C. Bennette Moore Studio until the late 1960s.

On Friday, December 8, 1939, Moore went to work from his 5213 Prytania Street residence as usual. He complained of illness that morning and collapsed and died within minutes, of what was later determined to be a heart ailment.

Caroline Burnett was an American-born artist known for her Impressionist street scenes of Paris. Her painting style reflected the contemporary movement that was occurring in France during her time there. Caroline Burnett paintings also display hints of abstract influence, especially her figural paintings. This change of styles from time to time is not surprising, as Burnett's paintings were produced mainly for the tourist market.
Artist Caroline Burnett was a member of the Société de Beaux-Arts in Paris, where she exhibited her works in 1898. Using both light and shadow with skill and precision, she painted cityscapes showing each season in Paris.
